I Wanna Go Home
I Wanna Go Home (2022) is an oil painting that depicts multiple realities simulating a world of familiar space and memory. This painting was created during the height of the COVID-19 restrictions; and Villanueva portrayed a performance of himself running into a projection of his childhood place in Tiring, Cabatuan, Iloilo, Philippines to another dimension in Google Earth Streets. This piece conveys Villanueva’s longing to relive his childhood neighbourhood since living in Canada in 2013.
